# HeartRiskCalc: calculators Documentation updated: 2026-10-16. Describes the implemented tools; not personal medical advice. ## PCE / home calculator Page: https://heartattackriskcalc.com. Methodology: https://heartattackriskcalc.com/methodology. - Model: 2013 ACC/AHA Pooled Cohort Equations (PCE), ages 40–79, without a prior ASCVD event. - Outcome: 10-year risk of a first hard ASCVD event (nonfatal myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease death, or fatal/nonfatal stroke). It is not heart-attack-only risk. - Inputs: age, sex, race group, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, blood pressure treatment, diabetes, and smoking. Cholesterol can be entered in mg/dL or mmol/L. - This is the older PCE model, not PREVENT. The home result's derived heart age compares risk against an optimal PCE profile within ages 40–79; it is not the separate Framingham tool below. ## PREVENT calculator Page: https://heartattackriskcalc.com/prevent-calculator. - Model: AHA PREVENT base equations (2023/2024 publications), without known cardiovascular disease. This site reports 10-year estimates for ages 30–79 and 30-year estimates only for ages 30–59. - Outcomes: separate ASCVD, heart failure, and total CVD risk estimates. - Inputs: age, sex, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, BMI, kidney function (eGFR, or estimated from serum creatinine), blood pressure treatment, statin use, diabetes, and smoking. Race is not an input. - This implementation does not include the optional UACR, HbA1c, or social deprivation index add-ons. Do not guess missing laboratory measurements. ## MESA calcium score calculator Page: https://heartattackriskcalc.com/mesa-calculator. - Model: published 2015 MESA CHD equations, ages 45–85 without known cardiovascular disease, for White, Black, Hispanic, and Chinese American groups. This is not the newer race-free model. - Outcome: 10-year coronary heart disease risk, with and without a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score; includes myocardial infarction, resuscitated cardiac arrest, CHD death, and revascularization with angina. Stroke is not included. - Inputs: age, sex, race/ethnicity group, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, blood pressure and lipid treatment, smoking, diabetes, family history, and an optional CAC Agatston score. If no scan score is supplied, no with-CAC result is calculated. - CAC comparison uses reference percentile bands for ages 45–84, not an exact percentile. Published rounded coefficients can produce small differences from the official calculator. A zero calcium score does not exclude non-calcified plaque or acute disease. ## Calcium score by age lookup Page: https://heartattackriskcalc.com/calcium-score-by-age. - Data: MESA CAC reference percentiles (25th/50th/75th/90th and share with a score above 0) for ages 45–84, by sex and White, Black, Hispanic, or Chinese American group, retrieved from the official MESA CAC Reference Calculator. - Output: the percentile band a score falls in, not an exact percentile, plus the 2018 ACC/AHA guideline range. Ages 30–44 receive published summary figures from Javaid et al. (JACC 2022) instead of a band. - A percentile is not a risk estimate; the MESA calculator converts a score into 10-year CHD risk. ## Framingham heart age calculator Page: https://heartattackriskcalc.com/heart-age-calculator. - Model: lipid-based 2008 Framingham general cardiovascular disease model, ages 30–74 without known cardiovascular disease. - Outputs: general 10-year CVD risk and heart age, derived by matching risk to a same-sex normal-risk-factor profile. This is not a biological age measurement. - Inputs: age, sex, total and HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, blood pressure treatment, smoking, and diabetes. - General CVD includes a broader set of outcomes than PCE or PREVENT-ASCVD. Do not compare these percentages as if they measure the same outcome, or apply one model's treatment thresholds to another. ## Shared boundaries All tools on this site are free, require no account, and calculate locally. Scores do not diagnose symptoms or prescribe medication. For a suspected heart attack, call emergency services immediately rather than using a risk calculator.
