What HeartRiskCalc is
HeartRiskCalc is a free tool that estimates your 10-year risk of a first heart attack or stroke using the older 2013 ACC/AHA Pooled Cohort Equations. The 2026 dyslipidemia guideline recommends PREVENT-ASCVD for lipid treatment decisions; our separate PREVENT calculator implements its base model. We also offer MESA coronary calcium risk and a Framingham heart age calculator. These tools use different models and outcomes. See the PCE methodology and each calculator page for its limitations.
Nothing you type is transmitted or stored. The calculation runs entirely in your browser.
Our editorial standard
- Guidelines first. Every clinical claim on this site cites a primary source (AHA/ACC guidelines, Mayo Clinic, CDC, peer-reviewed journals). Where sources disagree, we say so.
- Not clinician-authored. HeartRiskCalc is not staffed by a licensed physician. Articles link to public medical guidance, and the methodology identifies the model version and its limitations. For a personal assessment, see a doctor.
- Transparent updates. Article dates describe editorial updates, not medical review. Changes to model guidance are documented on the methodology page.
- Not a diagnosis. Nothing here replaces the judgment of a physician who knows your history. See our medical disclaimer.
Who's behind it
HeartRiskCalc is built and maintained by a small independent team. We are not licensed medical professionals, and the site is not reviewed by a physician. What we do instead: the calculator implements the 2013 ACC/AHA ASCVD Pooled Cohort Equations exactly as published, and every article cites its clinical claims to a primary source (AHA, Mayo Clinic, CDC, peer-reviewed journals). If we ever add a physician reviewer, this page will name them here. For corrections or questions, see the contact page.
How we're funded
HeartRiskCalc is independently maintained and currently displays no advertising. There is no paid plan or sponsored content. If funding changes, we will update this page.
